Series on brands and specific symbols

This picture is about famous logos and brands. You can see the peace sign at the top,the Adidas, the Sumsung, the Ray Ban brand on the other side and among other things, the ICS name. Even though ICS is not a brand,I wanted to show it because I thought it made the picture more unified.

This is also another picture of a logo of a peace sign. What I like about this picture is that, in the second one, the peace sign is constructed using a couple of paint brushes and a circle of hands.

This picture is a sign of "THE EYE OF HORUS". What I like about this picture is that the way the girl raises her eyes upwards and the shade that is created by the hand on the forehead reaching over her eyes.

Weston's biography and greatest works assignment

Weston first taking pictures after his father gave him his first camera which was a bulls eye kodak on his 16th birthday as a gift and after that Weston began taking photographs of everything he could find including pictures of his aunt's farm. In his young age Weston used to imitate paintings. But he was dissatisfied with his work so he switched to realism and his photography produced true to life, unpretentious images. Deciding to pursue his photographic career he traveled to Mexico, where he opened a photographic studio with his lover, Tina Modotti. During this time, Weston took a number of portraits and nudes for which he's known even today. Several Mexican artists of the time, including Diego Rivera, David Siqueiro began to admire his work. He also specialized in close ups and landscapes of shells and rocks. Weston was considered one of the most innovative and influential American photographers and one of the masters of 20th century photography. He was also the first photographer to receive the Guggenheim Fellowship award. His work was greatly admired because he could capture the form and structure and show you the picture in another way. Most of Weston's pictures are black and white. Weston took his last picture in Point Lobos after that Weston was diagnosed of Parkinson's disease and died after 10 years and during the 10 years, he published many of his pictures. His pictures in Point Lobos consisted mainly of trees and rocks. Some of Weston's greatest works are Natalius and Pepper no 30. here are some of his works-

Pepper No 30- one of Weston's greatest and most famous works

One of Weston's nudes- has an artistic sense in which he takes his pictures

One of his landscapes in his last days of taking pictures- in Point Lobos

Commercial Photography

These pictures are categorized in the part of commercial photography. commercial photography is a type of photography that advertises a certain product in this situation- THE MAGNIFICENT IRON CHAIR. The first picture is used for showing the durability and appeal of the "Iron chair." The second picture is used to show that the "Iron Chair" is very convenient and that it can be turned into a smaller size. The third picture shows that other chairs like for instance The Bench might not be comfortable for sitting or working as they can cause you back aches which brings us to our fourth picture. The fourth picture is shortly saying that if you do not want to have back aches and want to sit on comfortable chairs, your choice is the MAGNIFICENT IRON CHAIR!!!"

Sequence

This is a sequence picture meaning it shows some kind of process. The process shown here is of a girl first crouching and beginning to run. The second picture shows of that same girl running and the third picture shows of that same girl winning the run and raising her hands up like a winner and when I edited this picture, i saturated it and added contrast in it and i also cropped the third picture to cut the lower part of the torso of the girl and so that it would focus more on the face of the little girl.

Diptych

This is a diptych picture. This picture is a diptych picture because it has the same theme and message. The idea of this picture is patriotism because on the first picture it has the idea of patriotism because it shows a flag. I chose the flag to reflect patriotism because i think that a flag symbolizes what many people die for. In the second picture, you see a man wearing a soldier's uniform and saluting like a soldier does to a captain. That soldier shows that he is willing to fight for his country which in turn shows patriotism and his love for his country. when I edited this picture, I saturated it and cropped the back round a bit and I zoomed the picture to make the content the center of the image

Mask

After I edited this picture using de-saturation, cropping and adding contrast, I saw the picture in a new way. When I see this picture, the phrase that comes to my mind is "sneaky rabbi", because as you can see the girl in the picture is wearing a rabbi hat(even though women can’t be a rabbi) and she is looking at you in a kind of way that is creepy. Even though the cat mask doesn't give meaning in the context of a rabbi, I imagine that because the girl is wearing the cat mask it kind of implies that the "Rabbi" is doing forbidden things.

This is another picture of a girl wearing a cat mask. This picture also gives me the idea of sneakiness. In addition to the sneakiness, this picture also gives me the idea of a girl living luxuriously and a girl who is spoiled. I took certain steps to edit the picture and so to make the eyes stand out more, I added contrast. To make the mask stand out more, I saturated the picture and finally to make the girl the attention of this picture and to cut off the distractions from the back round, I cropped the picture.

Object

This is also another object picture. It is a picture a picture of a silver earing. When I see this picture, it makes me think about growth and expansion and also of the old days of the colonization. It makes me think about colonization because it makes me think of the various African countries that were colonized and mined for diamonds. Even though this is not a diamond, it symbolizes what people had been colonized for. It also shows the growth and development in a country because(assuming this is a diamond) it shows a source of making money and being developed. when I edited this picture, I saturated it and blurred the back round a lot to make the earing stand out more.

This picture is an object picture. when I see this picture, it generally reminds me of a fallen, destructed thing. It makes me thinks of about not having hope and being helpless. But strangely enough, it also makes me think of new beginnings and having a fresh start. when I edited this picture, I saturated it and added contrast. I blurred it around the edges and cropped it because it had unnecessary parts.

Texture

This here is a texture picture. I love this picture because the peelings of the wall are kind of reaching out to you and it makes you feel like you can sort of touch them. To edit this picture i contrast to it. i also saturated it to bring more of the feeling of the wall reaching out to you.

This picture generally shows texture. The reason i chose this flower for texture is because just like the peelings of the green wall, you can see the small white specs on the tip of the flower. Even though there's grass in the back round, when i see the tiny specs on the flower, i imagine the season to be winter with tiny bits of snow falling, even though it never snows here in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. So to add more definition to the specs,i added contrast to the picture and desaturated it from the original picture to make the contrast stand out more. i also cropped the picture because i thought there was too much going on in the back round.

The reason this picture symbolizes a texture picture and the reason i like it is because the picture shows the cuts in the bark of the tree and you can also see bees stuck to the bark of the tree. i blurred th back round a lot to get the bees into more focus and i also saturated the picture a lot and added contrast to it.

what i like about this texture picture is the fact that you can see stands of loose hair out of the braid and i also like how the Braid's color, purple kind of goes with the back round color which is gray. what make the loose hair more pronounced is that i saturated  it and added contrast. i also zoomed the image a bit and blurred the back round to put the front into more focus.

This is a texture picture showing a footprint on mud. what adds to this picture being a texture is not only does it show the shape of the foot but also because it shows other types of rock in the mud and the difference in their color. You can see that the back round is blurred. This is made to put more focus on the image in front and not to make the back round distracting. This picture is also saturated and has contrast in it.

This is also yet another texture picture. This picture kind of shows you where the hair goes when it is braided. I like this picture because somehow it reminds me of a horse. it reminds me of a horse because somehow when i imagine a horse, i imagine it coming up to the fence and me touching its hair and playing with it. To get the hair to be more defined, i saturated the picture and added a lot of contrast. I also blurred the picture around the edges to make the hair stand out more.

Blur Photography

This is a naturally blurred picture of a girl shaking her head. what i did to this picture was i cropped it and saturated it.

This picture in opposite to the other one is a manually blurred picture. unlike the other girl this picture isn't shaking her head or waving her hand but instead it is me that's waving the camera. to edit the picture i saturated and cropped it.

Stop action

This is a stop action photo which is a bit blurry. when i edited this photo i saturated it and cropped it around the edges. i also added contrast to add more definition to the hair and moved the picture a bit to the right.

This is a stop action photo of hool-a-hoop. what i like about this picture is that you can see the reflection of  the trees and additionally what makes this picture a stop action is because you can see how the water is affected by the hool-a-hoop. when i edited this picture i saturated it and cropped the back round.

Macro

This is a macro picture. its a very colorful picture with the orange in the middle and the pink in the back round. because it was such a colorful picture, i saturated the picture to get the colors to be more defined. i also added contrast to it to make the back round able to be seen.

This is also a macro picture. This picture is a kind of a flower placed in a sea of other grasses and trees and to make it stand out more i zoomed the picture. i also cropped the picture and added contrast and i saturated the picture. this picture is also a close up of how the water flows on the petal of the flower.

Portraits

This is a close up portrait of an eye. This picture is in a sepia tone and it has a bit of contrast in it. It is also cropped so the focus will primarily be on the eye.
This image is a full-front image. it is taken at an upward angle instead of a full front angle. to get the colors to stand out more, i saturated the picture and added contrast to it. i also cropped the image because there were other distracting things in the back round.

This is a partial portrait. I personally like this picture because the girl kind of has her eyes and looks in the other direction as if she is looking for reassurance. i added contrast to the image to make the hair stand out and i also cropped it.

This is a full front portrait of a boy. This picture is saturated to get the hair and the color of the Hoodie which is red to be more defined. I also added contrast to this picture. What I like about this picture is that the red Hoodie provides a good contrast with the back round color which is a cream color. It is not only the Hoodie that is helpful but also the hair because the color of the hair somehow combines with the color of the Hoodie in a good way making the color of the hair which has brown in it similar to the color of the Hoodie which is red.
